To effectively manage stress is it important to take good care of yourself. As well as taking time to recharge – exercise and having a healthy lifestyle are very important factors in managing stress.

Exercise is an important want of controlling the body’s reaction to stress. It can counteract a number of the consequences of our “fight or flight” response such as reducing muscle tension and reducing cortisol. Exercise is not only important for managing stress but keeping active can also improve your physical health, mood, and ability to manage and deal with stress and other problems. Exercise also improves sleep, boosts your thinking and slows the effects of aging.

There are lots of examples of exercise that you can do. However, walking is probably the easier form of exercise that can be built into your everyday routine. Walking can be done easily as part of your commute or during your lunch break.
