How to use your Career Journal to Practice Gratitude

Writing a Career Journal can change your life. You can use any old notebook for writing your career journal – you don’t need inspirational quotes (although they can make a notebook look pretty).

It is what is inside it that counts!

One regular journal prompt that you should do on a daily basis is to write about what you are grateful for to help develop a positive mindset.

How Can Writing a Career Journal help?

If you are feeling demoralised or bored in your job or if you have lost your focus writing a Career Journal can help you to regain some of what you have lost. It can help you regain control and motivation. Practicing gratitude on a daily basis is one of the steps you can take to help with this.

How does it Work?

There are a couple of ways that you can do this and you should experiment to find what is the most natural way for you to do it. Sometimes I write a list of things to be grateful for and treated it as a list entry. Other times I write a journal reflection entry with more of a direct focus. But either way, you should make it a habit to write on a daily basis what you are grateful for… it doesn’t matter how small or silly it may seem. Write it down.

Why Practice Gratitude?

Gratitude can increase resilience, happiness, and self-awareness. It can help you take a more focussed and positive mindset in your career and in your life generally. It can help you learn more about yourself.

Therefore practising gratitude on a regular basis helps you in your career and in your life.
